About

Welcome to our class blog!

All blog posts have been written by students of Anthropology 320 at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Anthropology 320, or Indians of North America, focuses on Native North American cultures as they existed traditionally, before European contact, and as they survive today in contemporary 21st century America.

In this course, students were challenged to critically examine contemporary issues that affect Native people. This blog offers a medium for students to share the outcomes of their research with the public, to provide an anthropological perspective on current affairs, and hopefully focus the public's attention on issues that need to be discussed and addressed.

As you explore the posts, please feel free to ask questions or leave comments.

"Among the most basic dimensions of human experience is
that close association of heart and mind, often subdued yet potentially overwhelming,
that is known as sense of place."
